今回のデジタルアーカイブプロジェクトは、震災の被害の大きさをストリートビューの技術を活用し、撮影・公開することで、世界中の科学者や研究者だけでなく、一般の方がこうした情報にアクセスできるようになり、地震や津波が引き起こす被害を知っていただくきっかけになるものと考えています。これが、後世に震災の記録をきちんと継承し、震災の記憶の風化を防ぐことにつながることを期待しています。
